READINESS TO CHANGE: A person needs to be ready to begin a process of gaining awareness of their psychological functions and support and to begin exercises and treatments toward positive changes (see readiness to change appraisal) .
THE RIGHT PACE: Changes to our brains psychological functions occur at a slow, but consistent pace. If we try to rush the process or create unrealistic expectation the process can be thwarted and the client can lose confidence. Each person recovers at a different pace and this needs to be determined. Our 2-2-1&4 was designed based on our experiences with the pace that most folks we have worked with. This involves two weeks at the Alive Health Centre, two weeks of after care back home, one more week at Alive and then 2-4 months of after-care when they return back home.
